About
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can have a significant impact on a person’s life, affecting both their mental and physical wellbeing. PTSD can develop following exposure to a traumatic or highly distressing experience, and its effects can vary greatly from person to person. This programme will help you understand what PTSD is, the potential effects it can have on an individual’s mental and physical wellbeing, and how it may affect their participation in sport. You will also explore how to appropriately support an athlete you are instructing who may be experiencing PTSD, while promoting a safe, supportive and inclusive sporting environment. Content Warning: In this program it will discuss the challenges people with PTSD may go through, including suicidal or self harming thoughts and actions. While the material and information is presented in an educational and sensitive manner, some subjects may be emotionally challenging for some learners.
