Witnessing someone having a seizure can be distressing, but knowing how to respond appropriately can help you remain calm and provide the right support. Understanding what to do if an athlete experiences a seizure during your session is an important part of safeguarding and fulfilling your duty of care. This programme will provide you with key information about seizures and epilepsy, including how to respond appropriately when a seizure occurs and how to support the athlete afterwards. It will also explore common seizure triggers and practical ways to help minimise potential triggers where appropriate, supporting a safer and more inclusive sporting environment. Content Warning: In this program it will discuss the challenges people with Epilepsy go through. While the material and information is presented in an educational and sensitive manner, some subjects may be emotionally challenging for some learners. Including a video of a man having a tonic clonic (convulsive) seizure, which is optional for you to watch.
