About

Depression is a common mental health condition that can affect people from all walks of life and in many different environments, including at home, work, education and within sport. It can have a significant impact on a person’s wellbeing, motivation and ability to participate in activities they usually enjoy. This programme will help you better understand depression and how it may affect athletes during your sessions. You will learn practical ways to create a positive and supportive environment, as well as how to recognise when an athlete may need additional support and what to do if a serious situation arises. Content Warning: In this program it will discuss the challenges people with Depression may face, including suicidal or self harming thoughts and actions. While the material and information is presented in an educational and sensitive manner, some subjects may be emotionally challenging for some learners.
